Camping

Family camp-outs are hosted by POINT in the spring and fall. Bring the whole family for a weekend of outdoor fun - exploring, fishing, kayaking, archery/air rifle target practice, Dutch oven cooking and s'mores! Thanks to Texas Parks and Wildlife, our instructors have training and through grant monies,  POINT is able to provide camping gear for you - tents, air mattresses, lanterns, etc...

We sleep in tents on air mattresses but within 50 feet is an accessible cabin with an accessible bathroom. Our Saturday evening  meal is cooked over an open campfire followed by s'mores for dessert. Primarily we see various species of birds: bluebirds, owls, ducks, geese... and occassionally we see an alligator swimming in the lake.

Upon arrival you will be given your necessary equipment for the weekend: tent, lanterns, air mattress(s), and heaters if needed. You are asked to set up camp before participating in activities. Help in setting up camp is always available. The rest of the weekend you will participate in the activities of your choice: fishing, kayaking, archery, air rifles, relaxing...

"Thanks for all the work to make the campout possible. The kids had a great time and it was good to visit with many new friends. They are already talking about the next campout opportunity. These are memories of experiences they will never forget."
