Michael “Shorty” Powers
Shorty is the Founder of Turning Point, and has served as President since inception in 1979. His vision and enthusiasm have moved Turning Point from a small group of outdoorsmen into a multi-state organization serving hundreds of people each year.
Wes Harley
Wes is the new Director of Chapter Development.and also the Director of Turning Point West Texas. Wes has a degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Education plus many years of experience as supervisor of several recreational therapy programs. He has decided to utilize these experiences to help provide guidance to the Turning Point chapter directors.
Dave Kiley, Para-Olympic Gold Medalist
Dave serves as a consultant for chapter development. Dave has over 25 years of experience as director of adaptive recreation at several major rehabilitation centers. He brings that expertise to the aid of others who are providing Turning Point activities or developing chapters in their area.
Nance Powers
Nance is serving as the Turning Point administrative assistant. Her duties are too vast to name but if you need any information, she is the person to call.
Jason Swanson
Jason serves as Director to the Turning Point North Texas Chapter. He also organizes and attends the monthly activites for National and North Texas chapters. These activites include, but not limited to, fishing, boating, hunting and camping.
Kenneth Mumford
Ken is the National Program Director. He will also implement a "peer mentoring" concept along with the recreational programs. Ken has found it equally, if not more important, to build relationships through sharing real life experiences of being disabled.
Turning Point staff members provide the organization with an unusual depth of expertise and experience as well as a true passion for its mission. Each person brings a unique perspective including outdoor skills, business development, nonprofit management, rehabilitation knowledge and financial and resource development. This team has the strength and talent to assure the success of Turning Point as a national organization.
